urgent! fuel relief procedure, fuel still flows out of the tank by itself

I disconnected the EFI relay and attempted to start the car 3 times until the engine dies by itself to relief the fuel pressure. I also remove the gas cap.

When I disconnected the main fuel line, near the tank, gas keep flowing out.

I had originally about 15 litres of gas remaining in the tank. Gas keep flowing out slowly and so far, I have collected about 10 litres.

I don't understand, the engine is OFF. The fuel pump is OFF. The gas cap is OFF. How can gas flow from the main gas line which feeds to a pipe on top of the gas tank and then flow downward to the junction underneath the tank where I disconnected the main gas line.

Please help, I need to have the gas stop flowing in order to change my main fuel line (and other lines too that were so rusted)

are you familiar with what a siphon is? disconnect the fuel lines at the fuel sending unit under the back seat.

So how do I interrupt the siphoning effect? is that because the exit point is located at a lower elevation than the feed point?

Put a rag over the banjo bolt on the fuel rail/filter and open it carefully.

Bitter, there wouldnt be a siphoning effect, because the fuel pressure regulator would stop it. Either the EFI relay doesnt cut the fuel pump from turning or theres stil line pressure there. Even if you pull the EFI fuse and crank it, the pressure wouldnt go down when the injectors arent firing (untill it seeps through the return valve)

The banjo bolt is already open, the fuel filter is disconnected already. I am talking about fuel continuing to flow at the fuel line at the bottom of the tank

Obviously it will flow until there is none to flow in the tank. Its below the level of fuel in the tank, just plug it with a wooden plug etc or a hose clamp to the rubber hose.

Still a mystery to me because the output of the fuel pump hose is located on top of the tank and fuel is flowing out by itself

anyway, I will let it empty by itself until the tank is dry

the FPR is at the fuel rail, not in the tank. he's got the feed cut below the level of the tank and the fuel filler cap off, theres a continuous unbroken column of fuel in the feed line which is siphoning.

Just let it all drain out and put it back in. It will eventually stop. I don't get the problem?
