I am here because my car has treated me well and I was thinking about trading it in to get another Toyota. Im thinking about the Rav4 as we are outdoorsy people and according to the specs it can tow.
what do you think I can get for my Corolla? Its a '93, when i bought it it was an insurance write off ( i think a little old lady crashed it into her garage, lol) so all i had to do was fix the front bumper and give it a paint job. i chose to have the whole car repainted. Since the car hit the front the airbags went off and I did not replace the airbags... new tires regular oil changes/maintenance and not a spot of rust. any ideas would be helpful
Given that your car was in an accident, and it has no airbags, it's going to be really tough try to sell it to a private seller and, as what Bitter said, your not going to get much if you trade it in. You could put it up for sale on Ebay or at a local car auction. Another thing you can do is donate it to a local charity (i.e. Purple Heart, Salvation Army) and get a tax deduction.
I thought that the timing belt on most corollas could safely be replaced around 120k miles?? My 6th generation rolla had its timing belt replaced at 120k miles. My 7th generation rolla currently needs to have its timing belt replaced as I've just hit the 100k mile mark as well

Thats 100000 km? Being in canada, if the car is rust free im sure you could find someone to give you 2500 for it with 100km. Ive seen local examples like that go for 3500 here and with a minor history with the front bumper, 2500 cdn is right in the ball park.

i have done some research and its not illegal to drive it without airbags, and since the car wasn't bonded i thought i could ask around 4 and get maybe 3 privately.
i bought it with 27k on it and since I live 45 from town on the highway i put a tone of km on it in three years. (minus an entire winter where i didnt drive it!)
I figure my best market would be the new drivers who need a car but cant afford the whole 9 yards
Hi,
I'm Isaac I own a 96 4afe 5spd. I need to replace the mounts on it and a friend was telling me to find just the inserts. Does anyone know where to go? Can anyone describe how to change out the inserts? I heard you can clamp the mount and tap out the old insert and then insert the new ones. I'm looking to get the polyurethane racing inserts if possible. Thanks for any responses
Timing belts should always be done at 60k miles. Just because most cars can get by for twice that (or thrice that in my case) doesn't mean that it's safe.
If someone hasn't done the timing belt, what else has been neglected? Probably needs a lot of things, since the 60k service has obviously not been done. The following should be done at 60k: timing belt, transmission flush, transfer case flush, power steering flush, brake fluid flush, oil change, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter. Other less costly maintenance like tire rotation, air filter, etc should also be done. And I'm probably forgetting a thing or two. You should adjust the price to account for any of those things that needs to be done. Such a car that has a salvage title and no airbags would be lucky to go for $1000us around here. A '93 corolla in great condition with low miles like that might fetch $2500.
i like how you assume that just because one thing isnt done everything else isnt done. i said that the timing belt wasn't done but in my first post i mentioned oil changes and maintenance has been regular. i am not going to tell you every little thing i have done to the car here, that is all written and dated in a notepad kept in the car for whoever is interested in purchasing the car.
yea no kidding shut up about the timing belt... that wont affect the price.. the car has really low kilometers for its year... only 100,000... my 94 has 388,000 and ive been offered 1,400 for it and it even has some rust.. im gonna fix that and give it a flat black paintjob, but anyway.. im guessing you could get 2800 minimum for it, 3500-4200 max
if you can... go to a mechanic or someone that safeties cars and get an estimate on how much it will be to safefy it and what youll need to get fixed, if its cheap, let them fix it and safety it... people would rather buy a car thats safetied because they know they wont have 2 do much work on it and put extra money into it,
good luck!
when i went to toyota for an estimate the computer pumped out that it was worth between 5500 and 9500 so i am making an educated guess that with no airbags it would be worth somewhere around 3

Phatroyale told me about a place in the states called speed source. I looked them up and they make inserts for the corolla.
