How do I hotwire, or do a pushbutton starter?

I loaned my beater 93 corolla to a friend and the ignition jammed on it so I had to chisel it out ssince it wouldnt turn to acc to push the button so I could get the cylinder out. I ended up f*****g everything up so now I am just going to hotwire it or wire a pushbutton starter. Can somebody tell me what each of the wire colors are on the ignition harness?

The bad part is even if you get the starter to spin you're looking at two more real issues, a locked streering wheel and a security code.

I was going to by one of these for my next car:

You can also get this and run it in line with the ignition wire

if you drill the lockpin out on the cyl, you can slide the whole old assy out. Then you could even start it with pliers by turning the switch. The switch is bolted to the backside of the cylinder, and you should be able to remove it. You may be able to use it that way, or get a new column from a pick a part. I have a spare column with a key assy if you are interested, not sure on what the shipping might be cross border though even though your like 4 hours away.

I ended up drilling out the ignition cylinder but I broke part of it so I hotwired it for a while and then finally bought a $5 aftermarket ignition switch for it. I am going to use a dremel to modify the dash to allow the new switch to fit where the old one was. I have the steering lock just kind of jimmy rigged until I get in there and figure out how to totally disable the steering lock.

what if your jimmy rig fails and the column locks while someone is driving it? do you have any idea how dangerous that could be? your insurance would not cover you, you modified the car in a dangerous fashion and solely you would be liable.

The lock is less likely to go into the lock postition the way I have it than the way it was manufactured. It can't lock if there is no lock. The steering was rigged to stay unlocked for the short drive home and it has and will continue to sit until the steering lock is completely disabled. This car is not a daily driver.

having been in a situation where a steering wheel DID lock up on me...its not cool. thankfully i was only in a parking lot and starting to pull out of a parking area. it was a customers car taken for a test drive, the bearing in the steering column locked up due to age/wear. thankgod it locked up on ME in a parking lot and not HIM while going down the road. a freaking small miracle really.
