add air conditioner option 1993 corolla help PLEASE

Ok,

before I get the its not worth it speech I really plan on doing this. I have a 1993 toyota corolla that has no factory a/c...

THIS THREAD COULD EVENTUALLY LEAD UP TO HELPING OTHERS FOR GOOD INFO...

Ok first things first, I've got an engine with all necessary mounting brackets from a junkyard that I have already installed.

Next There is under the hood a little box that has a/c fan and such labeled on the outside of it that holds relays for the fan and compressor im guessing. There is no relays installed BUT there is wires coming from it with terminals to insert the relays.

So I took out the glove box to see how the evaporator would mount in. turns out im gonna need the housing with the evaporator in it. The body has cut outs for the a/c line to go through the body.

I have pretty much verified everything should be asy to physicly install including:compressor, condensor, drier, lines, and evaporator.

The only problem I am, having is verifying the actual wiring exist in the car for it. I would love for someone to take pics of the A/C amplifier box that should sit on top of the evaporator housing. This way I can see exactly what kind of plug in it is and possibly the wire colors it has going to it. any other closeup pics of the pressure switches wires and anything else would be greatly appreciated.

If you can help me im sure this thread can contain a lot of good info for future references.

maybe go to a wrecking yard with a camera for tight places, a flash light and a notepad..
a bunch of tools..

I think a 10mm socket, some screw drivers both philips and straight.. some pliers, a small socket set.. to get the whole a/c box evaporator off you will need to take the in/ou lines off with the big nuts that connect under the hood at the firewall. I cannot remember the size of those,, if you have line wrnches that would be great, but a large crescent (adjustable) wrench for the large on is ok, and a smaller open end is ok for the high pressure (large line..)

The a/c evaporator box is in 2 parts, on my 89 SR5, and is held together with metal clips and some philip screws..

and again the in/out lines ont he engine side of the firewall have nut on couplers.. note: they can be extremely tight..

for electronis a schematic too is nice..

unless someone can get you the info for the same year car.. that the only other place to get up close and personal..
you might need to make sure the evaporator expansion valve is good... ($35.00 new at some auto stores..). it is in the evaporator box on the line..

if you need to re-wrap the the expansion valve thermistor wire (copper, curled, and taped to the a/c line..) I used some special heating and a/c tape which has really sticky side with foam and foil sides.. as the old wrap was too far gone and old to re-use..
