just replaced clutch...

hi y'all yesterday i replaced the clutch in my 4a-fe bc it was slipping very badly, i replaced the pressure bearing the plate and the disk, but the pedal is now very soft, compared to b4...

it is normal for this to happen?

also the front and rear mounts seem to be in very bad condition , any recommended brand on these?

to toyota directly: thanks for this PITA -i hope i don't have to do this again at least in a couple hundred thousand miles.

but i did it!!!!!!!!!!

toyota OEM Rocks!!!!!!

Did you make sure to bleed the lines afterward? Maybe you have air?

When mine was changed it also felt very soft to where I thought something was wrong. As per the mechanic it was because all the springs were brand new on the pressure plate. He was right on, after a short time it went back to being "normal".

If its hooking up OK then dont worry about it.

Ever flex a piece of metal back and forth until it breaks? It gets harder to bend the more you flex it. Thats what was going on in your old pressure plate.

either you have air in the clutch line, the slave or master is bad, or you're driving on a brand new clutch that has not broken in yet. sounds like the last one, report back in 300-500 miles, it should start to feel 'norma' after 100-200 and be ready to abuse after 500-800 miles.

thats not good, you should drive it gently for the break in period, follow the directions otherwise you're likely to have problems later on like hot spots, chatter, cracks, etc.
