Stock Rearview Mirror Mount

1995 Corolla DX

Is this the stock rearview mirror mount?

Is this the correct way to attach it? It is only held on by that plastic piece, its so loose.

No, there should be a metal piece that comes out of the mirror and crosses behind the plastic bit, it appears the one on your mirror broke off. I'd suggest you go to a junkyard and buy another mirror, they typically run about $10.

In the first picture there is a metal plate behind the plastic piece, is this what you're talking about?

That it is. I've got a broken mirror laying around somewhere, if I find it I'll post a picture of how the mounting hardware should look.
