Brake pedal ratcheting

Recently when I drive for a while and it's a hot day, when I push on the brake pedal I hear this tatatata ratcheting noise. I am hoping it's not the spring that's worn and might snap one of these days? Anyone else experience it on their car? I bent down backwards to look at it but all seems fine under there.

Thanks

Sounds like an ABS problem, not a pedal problem.

The only way a pedal could move under your foot with that kind of noise would be from an ABS problem. Since you say you dont have ABS I would NOT drive that car if the pedal moves to the floor. When you push the pedal it should stop at a firm point, period. There are no springs that can cause the problem, only leakage of some kind in the hydraulic system. Are you losing fluid?

Thanks Pete but I never said the pedal moves the floor? It brakes great but when I press the brake pedal it goes click click click click. And no I definitely don't have ABS..there's just one brake line to the caliper and that's it. I'll try greasing the joints at the pedal assembly first..and see if that will resolve anything.

even if you have abs i'm pretty sure there is only 1 line going to the caliper. esiest way to tell is look for an abs wheel sensor. and there is not alway sensors at all 4 wheels.

GT, The brake pedal spring is to return the pedal upward. I would check the pedals pivot point and also where it mounts to the firewall. It may be the spring so check it too. Also check for a wire...not a hose, connected to your strut. The ABS sensor reads off of the CV shaft. That why some have those notches all the way around the shaft near the boot.
