CLUNK in rear suspension

I've dug around and disassembled looking for a cause and still havent found one.

I hear a clunk in the back when I go over bumps. I DONT hear it when the car is loaded. I removed the struts and disassembled to see if there was anything worn out there and all was OK. The only thing I see thats odd is the bends on the sway bar put part of the bend inside the swaybar mounts.

Anything common on these cars that I might not see but all the owners know about??

mine clunked when the rear struts were shot. So I replaced them and still had a noise. Try replacing your sway bar lengths, they are pretty cheap. If that doesn't fix it, maybe your rear struts are gone.

clunking might be caused by badly seated coils. If you did not put the coil against the notch in the strut or if any part of the coil is touching the metal strut or wears out the rubber on the mount, the coil can move around causing the clunking. You did put the doughnut insulators back in right?

its either the rear sway bar bushings or rear struts/mounts.
id start with the rear sway bar bushings since thats the cheaper fix.

yes I concur ! and I can confirm that was the case for my car, a clunk when going over bumps. It was caused by a worned out sway bar bushing on the left side. The bushing is relatively inexpensive, about $10

Struts are good...Since I took them apart to be sure. Springs are in their proper position. Links are good too, so I guess its the bushings. I didnt take them apart. I've never had to replace one on any of the cars I have taken past 200k miles. I guess theres always a first time!

Thanks for all your suggestions.
