Sometimes they can be buggers. A circlip holds the stub into the trans. Sometimes it raises a burr that makes it harder to get out. Usually a large prybar is enough to make it come loose. I've used TWO spaced on either side on a few tough ones. Keep at it. It will come out!

I got it!!

I used a pair of channel locks and opened them up all the way. I used the shaft of a hammer to hit both shafts of the channel locks at 1 time and it came free.
