1993 Corolla Gauge Issuses?

Hello. I live in Canada, and its not October 2nd, meaning the mornings are very cold. However, when I start up my car, The temp. gauge shots to the "H", and also, I put $15 in the tank today, but the fuel light is still on, and the guage hardly moved.

Now, when I first got the car (after is sat for 2 years in my yard) the fan was hooked up to a homemade switch, until we got the new parts, and for the most part, the temp guage worked. However, the gas gauge has also been slow moving (not apparing to read right)...

My question is, is there anything "easy" that might be causing this, or is it something big time...

Also, Im not sure how these cars on gas, but off of $10 and gas is currently about 98 cents per litre, I get about 140km....

Thank you (Sorry for all the reading)

start with the "H". Do you see this after cold cranking the engine or after the engine warms up? Does your radiator fan come on and off periodically? Do you ever smell antifreeze? Is there steam? Check the color of fluid under the cap.

You have more problems than merely a gauge. Get a tuneup asap and change all fluids

Alright. Its both cold + warm. New fluids already in it. The rad fan comes on as soon as my car is put in the "Acc" position on the ignition. No smells. No steam, and the color is green im fairly sure.
