Strong gas smell after filling up

If you pump gas until the first click, does it mean the gas level has reached the top of the filler neck? (I never add more gas after the first click)

I noticed whenever I fill my car until the first click, I smell a strong gas odor inside and outside the car for the next 50km or so

If I don't fill up completely, I never smell gas. I know the tank holds 50 litres, if I fill to about 45 litres, no gas smell.

I looked underneath the car, where the filler hose enter the tank and also where the breather tube connects to the tank, I did not see obvious leaks.

I must have a leak somewhere

That happens to my car too. But only for a couple of minutes, which is normal since the fumes from the filler neck escape every time it's opened and go into the cabin.

I would check the condition of your gas lines, it's hidden behind a plastic panel in the rear left wheel well attached with a single plastic push clip.

Pull that off and get a good look there, it's a common spot that's prone to leakage once the car gets older.

Last month I installed new gas lines (main, return, evap and 2 rear brake lines)

The main gas from the fuel filter to the rear is made of steel. Then it connect so a short rubber hose. The rubber hose is then connected to some steel tubing that goes somewhere on top of the gas tank. I can't see it without dropping the tank

are you saying I can remove a plastic trim near the rear left wheel to see those lines? hmmm I can't see how. Do you have the 7th gen or 8th?

in my case, I think it's more than vapor, if I park my car in a garage after I fill it up, the entire garage really smell gas but I can't see any leaks on the floor anywhere, it is scary, I won't park it inside anymore after filling up

I was under the impression that you haven't replaced those lines yet from the how your original post read. I have a 7th gen.

Hmmm... that sounds strange indeed.

When I pulled those hoses off, it was a pain to get them to sit back correctly again. Could it be you dont have them on correctly or the clamp isn't tightened properly?

check your tank. Inspect it well. Gas may be seaping from the gaskets or the check valves on top of the tank. Feel on top with your hand. Also you can remove the back seat cushion pretty easy and expose the fuel pump. Inspect the lines from the fuel pump.
