i was bored and decided that i wanted to put an air intake in the rolla so here is kind of a DIY explaining how i did it. tell me what you think sorry if bad kind NEW HERE
things needed
1. pvc pipe 2"
2. flexible 2" elbow (rubber)
3. air filter
4. 3" to 2" or 3" tp 2 1/2" coupling
5. black paint
6. drill w/ drill bit
1. take out all the stock intake so first loosen clamp by the throttle body and the clamp closest to the air box and take all that tube out. after take the top of the airbox off and the filter under there is 3 bolts loosen the and all the box should come out! now this part is hard and a huge pain you have to loosen both the fuse boxes connected to the side panel there should be 4 bolts. after that loosen the thing that holds the battery down and disconnect the negative. you should be able to move the battery around now so there is a bolt the holds down the tubes loosen that and that whole plastic piping should come out. then tighten every thing back up!
2. drill a whole in the pvc pipe for the sensor then paint it what ever color desired i made mine black
3. clamp the 2" flexible elbow to the throttle body on one end and on the other to the pvc pipe
4. most air intakes you buy like at oriely or autozone only go as low as a 3" pipe so i bought a 3" to 2 1/2" coupling and put it in the air intake and the other to the pvc pipe tighten all clamps down put sensor in and put adhesive to hold the sensor down!
how did you move your battery like that? did you just push it over? it was a pain for me to even move my battery to take that one bolt under it off! where is you sensor? but im not going to lie that looks good! whats w/ the loose wires? were do they go?
I got my hands on an old Dodge Neon Intake and took a dremel to it, since there is no offical cold air kit for our corollas, I made my own, in combination with the ebay short ram tube I got.
It is routed, down below the rad and in front of the trans. Much cooler air down there.

i want to do that!!!!!! but i just cant seem to find a way to move my battery and do that! how did you move your battery? and both me and gold94corolla have that tank to the left sidee of the battery where is yours?

You guys can't move your battery??? Mine has a lot of play with it, I can push it around a little.... but yeah, I twisted mine. My intake was sooooooooooo easy to make! I recommend it 100%. Here's a DIY:
And as for rip-the-e-brake's intake, actually, the Celica has a cold-air-intake that routes very very similar. It is the same engine and it will fit on our engine.

You noticed that rip-the-e-brake had to relocate his radiator overflow bottle to fit his intake, and you would need to relocate it with the Celica intake. If you look at his first picture, you can see a similar overflow tank ziptied up near the fusebox/strut tower.
HOWEVER!!!
I do not recommend that intake.... mine is much better. You will notice that the celica/neon intake has very tight turns (90 degrees), plus other bends.... my intake only has 2 45-degree bends, so the air flows through better.
ALSO!
I had my first intake run like this, very very similar:
OK, so my pic doesn't show it well, but if you see rip's intake and the celica intake, you see how close the pipe is to the engine???? You are sucking air right past the very very hot engine. Also, the filter in this setup is close to the engine and tranny, so the air is warmer. My new filter is over here, and the piping is no where near the hot engine components
Just some things to think about!! Make sure you use 2.5" piping.

Thanks, the loose wires power my HIDs, lights, amps.... etc. Lots of mess in there but I'll really clean it up when I get to it.
As for the sensor, I drilled a hole to fit the sensor in, right near the engine. The hole is turned more towards the bottom so it is actually hard to see, looks cleaner.

As for my trunk, thanks, if you go here and scroll down some, you'll see what I did.
You have to loosen the battery holder, and move the battery over. I cut a nice chunk of my battery tray OFF. And according to the thermal thermometer I have.... The area I have it routed, is right behind the lower air opening on the front bumper, is like 20% cooler then under the hood where the filter already is. Not to mention, all that piping is going to get hot, with all the heat under the hood, but Gold Corolla's would be the official intake for a Corolla, I would have routed mine the same way, if my wheel well cover was fucked and most of the screws broken off. Gold, did you dremel out the hole in that area where the stock ducting was? Did you end up getting the inter-cooler piping kit?

Yeah, exactly, that's why it is just best to run the piping straight away from the engine. Of course, yours was free, can't beat that!
Yeah, mine is more official... and it was so simple and easy! My first intake with the dryer duct, yeah I cut a bunch of metal out of the way there and pushed the battery as close to the head light as possible, but it still crushed the pipe a little. I had forgotten about the hole in the fender where mine is now.
My first intake was 3", so it was hard to fit. Now, use 2.5" piping to match the intake body, and it will fit easily. I did not have to drill metal to fit the pipe through the fender.
And yes, these are intercooler pipes... I just bought 2 of them, though. Here's what you need:
