Do you want to swap in a 20 Valve 4AGE or a supercharged 4AGZE? You can also go with a 3SGE/3SGTE but those require some work to the chassis/body IIRC. Even then those engines will not make 250 without putting some serious money into them.

Actually, the 4agze is your best bet. It is supercharged and built for boost. It puts out about 170 HP stock (the JDM AE101 version)... and if you swap the intercooler to a front-mount kind, and if you install a pulley kit to increase the boost to 18psi and adjust the valve, you will be at 250 HP for only a few extra hundred dollars.

That's my plan

I had a turbo 4afe, and it was reliable at around the 180-200whp mark. But I spent a fair chunk of change to put it together right to be there.

Id just build a 4agze.

now what do you mean by this....

Make a gze do what to a blacktop? Beat it, faster then it, more powerful then it, or turn it into it?

You would want a silvertop. It has the same rods as the gze, and has the oil squirters. The blacktop doesnt have the squirters and has thin rods, and some people assume the crank and block are lightened/weaker.

If I was going to make a 4AGZE "blacktop" I'd take the bottom end of the GZE and put a blacktop head on it. You'd need a similar amount of custom equipment anyway, so that would be the easier way to do it.
