Question how to tighten e brake

1996 corolla standard 1.6 my e brake feels loose and when i brake it sounds like my ebrake is still on??

You should take a lookin side the rear drums. You probably need new brake shoes. If you are hearing scraping noises, your going to need new drums and shoes.

correct, check the shoes inside the drums. if they're not worn then they may just need adjustment.

k thanks yea thats what i am hearing! and it is so embarrasing because it has gotten pretty loud is there a link you can send me on how to do this or do you not recommend me doing it?

Like others said, check the shoes and drums, replace the shoes if the thickness is less than 1-2mm range or so. You might need to adjust the star wheel cog so that when you put the drum and wheel, it spins with a bit of drag, not to much, about one free revolution after you let go the wheel

after that you can tighten the hand brake lever tension by removing the center trim and adjust the two nuts. It should have 4-7 clicks

If he is hearing scraping and grinding, they need to be replaced. Just watch the above linked videos and you'll be good to go.

true, there is a way to tighten them more...but our e-brake also self adjusts as the pads wear down.
