I have a 1996 Corolla DX. The light bulb that illuminates the buttons for the hazards and defrost has burned out. I took the trim off a few months back to put in a new stereo head unit, and it was kind of a pain, so I am not looking forward to doing it again. Does anyone know the bulb types for the hazards/defrost button bulb and those that illuminate the climate controls? I would rather buy the bulbs before I take it off so I can get it right back on, and I figure it would be a good idea to replace them all when they are accessible.

Thanks.
I believe the hazard/defrost is a 74 type bulb. Note, when you buy the bulbs, you have to buy the ones that comes with the circle cover thinge because it does not come apart. I tried to remove the bulb from the holder thing and I broke it, and had to go to junkyard to steal one. Those bulbs rarely go out and suggest you go to junkyard and just put in your pocket. Its sooo tiny. Same goes with the instrument cluster lights. But for the climate controls (fan speed, heat control, etc) has no cover so you can pull out. I believe that is 74 as well. Best if you go to junkyard like i said.

Those are 4 mm NeoWedge bulbs, which are extremely hard to find. I bought 2 LED varieties from superbrightleds.com so that I wouldn't have to deal with them burning out.
IF you have the removeable bulbs in the gauge cluster, you can simply swap out the 194-type bulbs with LEDs. If not, you will need to get the base as well for each bulb.
Buy 3 of them if you have the tach cluster..... buy 4 of them if you have the non-tach cluster.
Those LEDs are perfect for the gauges. They have the 5 LEDs on top that have a 180-degree wide angle, so they light perfectly into the diffusers. You do not need LEDs with side-ways facing LEDs here.
For the A/C control bulb... I'm not sure how you can do that one, since the bulb sticks tightly into a clear plastic diffuser. So, the bulb you get would need to be the same size and have light out of all directions evenly. SMT are good LEDs.
Something like this
I'm not sure though... you can't really remove the diffuser and have the light come out..... in my case, I just put my own LEDs behind each symbol.
You can use SMT LEDs for the dome lights and for the warning indicators in the gauge cluster (I used blue and red ones like shown).
Gold, when I get a new cluster, I want to pay you to swap out all my LED's and shit.

HAHA you're funny.... it is very very easy man!! Take out old bulbs.... put in new ones! I mean, if you can get the cluster swapped and working, you can put in the LEDs
i also need to change the bulb behind the ac control
its kind of loose
when i hit it it starts working
soo can u help me which type bulb will go in tht?
