I think my wipers are slow. I greased the mechanism arms underneath the trim panel at the bottom of the windshield but they are still slow.
can someone please time how fast your wipers are running during a 5 seconds period
With the car running idle speed, I timed the following:
5 seconds: a bit short of 3 wipes at slow speed
5 seconds: 5 pass at high speed
5 seconds: 6 pass, high speed + pressing on the spray button, it accelerate to 6 passes for a few seconds and then slow down to 5 pass
to determine if the mechanism arms is the culprit, I intend to disconnect the mechanism and run the motor only and count the revolutions.
I am not sure how to disconnect the arms to free up the motor only
can anyone help please
thanks
edit: has anyone removed the complete wipers transmission mechanism arms before? they seems to be inside the firewall, any advice how to remove them?
wow, I've never even heard of anything like this lol....... I really love my wipers LOL.... especially in the rain!
I think my wipers go less than once per second.... so 3 times in 5 sec sounds right. You are fine! I think yeah they seem slow now that you mention it. But whatever works. That's what the fast setting is for!
I have owned this car for 13 years and just noticed now that if the wipers are set to high speed, pressing the spray button further accelerate them even more for about a couple of seconds
can anyone confirm this or is-it just my car malfunctioning?
I have the impression my wipes are slow because I also own the 2009 corolla and the wipers are very fast compared to my 1996 corolla
Oh yeah, LOL.... your wipers are 13 years old, so naturally they might be slower than when they were new, but of course newer cars could just have faster wipers to start with new technology and all.
I don't think the spray makes my wipers go faster.....
spray doesn't make it go any faster. Inless your wiping on a dry winshield
But it sounds like your running normal speed bro.
I'm actually wanting to get those new Rain-X contour wipers. Anyone have experience with those on our cars? I got intermittent wiper feature on my Corolla which is a nice feature too. Not too many I've seen with those.
check if the control arm is loose, its happened to me before, they might be slow cause somethin sticky is on the blade or just worn out blades check all that
you guys might want to double check that indeed spraying will accelerate the wiping speed. Your wipers must be running already at the high speed then press on the spray button, you will notice that it will wipe faster for a few seconds
The motor does not see more voltage when you spray to speed it up. The voltage is consistent. The extra lubrication (spray) on the windshield decreases friction so the motor has less load and speeds up until the washer fluid and residue is wiped away (usually 3-4 cycles)

that must be a unique feature of my car then or my car is acting up
to be sure, I folded back the wipers arms so they don't wipe the windshield and for sure, if I spray while the wipers running at high speed, they even swipe faster for a few seconds, strange hein?
by the way I have variable intermittent feature, could that explain the difference with you guys?
You didnt say anything about lubing the shafts. I have had shafts seize when the wipers were unused for a long time. Wiggle the wiper back and forth and see if the shaft moves easily.
Every car has the intermittent wipers, just the difference is that some have it so the delay is adjustable so the wipers wipe in more frequent or less frequent intervals. They are referring to having the adjustable delay.

Like, put your wipers to the first click, and they should go once up and down, stop and pause, and then go again. Then click the wipers again and you get continuous wiping at the regular speed. The upgrade is an adjustment switch that changes the delay in the intermittent stage.
