i got a 96 corolla 5 speed with 1.8L how can i make the most horse power cheap? and is 1.8L a free spining motor? in case my timing belt breaks it dont hurt my engine before i get to change it. what should i keep the RPMs at for best mileage? thanks

Yes, the 7A-FE is a non-interference design.

Not much you can do to get cheap power. These motors are built for economy not performance.

Nothing much to add power except the usual cold air intake and headers. You're not going to get large gains without a large sum of money and a lot of work. As for mileage... the lower RPM the better the mileage, don't drive it like you stole it.
