Gas Leak coming from end of hose on fuel inlet pipe

Discovered a gas leak when I fill coming from the fuel inlet pipe. I saw dripping from the end of the hose that connects the inlet pipe to the pipe of the gas tank. It's the smaller pipe of the pipes. Need help as to what to do. The end of the hose with the hose clamp is loose so there is a section of the hard pipe that is rusted out. The hose looks black and braided? I'm thinking I could hacksaw off a little pipe from each end of the hose and find a slightly longer hose and reconnect. Is this possible or do I have to replace the entire fuel inlet pipe?

I'm in the middle of a job like that. It appears Toyota is very prone to rusted out inlet pipes. Any that were still in cars in the boneyard I was at today had holes in them.

Its still possible that the small hose is the culprit and you can replace that semi easily. Just make sure that the hose you get is for FUEL.

Had the same problem. That rubber hose was stuck like hell on the rusted piece of pipe. When I tried to disconnect it, I noticed that the metal pipe started to crack. In my case it had pretty much rusted through. I feared to break it off completely, thus having to replace the entire tank, so I just cleaned it a bit (very difficult to do a proper cleaning due to lack of space) and put quite a bit of Plastic Padding tank sealer around it. The sealer is marketed as a 2 component "chemical steel" kind of thing. Looks good so far, I hope it will hold until it gets warmer in the spring when I plan to replace the tank.

I don't think there is any point in cutting the pipe. Once it starts to leak, there is basically no solid metal left on it, just rust. Replacing the tank is the only option to fix the problem properly. Anything else is just buying a little time.

That small pipe is the breather hose, which lets the air/fumes out of the tank when it is being filled up with fuel.

As a safety reminder, please dont ignore fuel leaks. Epoxies of any kind are OK as a temporary fix, but they will eventually fall off, and that time will probably be soon since you are trying to attach it to RUST!

No worries, I know it is a temporary solution, "temporary" and not "solution" being the key word here Other than the epoxy I also do not fill the tank up more than approximately to 3/4 of its capacity. The tank will definitely get replaced in the spring, hopefully sooner.
A leaky fuel tank not-so-far from the not-so-cold exhaust pipe clearly isn't a desirable situation.
