95 Corola no reverse

Car goes forward in drive, but reverse acts like neutral and car also wants to move forward when actually in neutral. Trans fluid was topped off when warm. Any help is appreciated

Thanks, Chet

the linkage to the shifter may be loose. You need the check that the nut and bolt that secure to the shift selector on the trans are tight and there is NO PLAY on them.
