transmission help please...

i have a 95 geo prizm with a toyota 1.6L and manual transmission. well the clutch went out on it and im in the process of replacing it but i can not get the tranny to seperate from the block, i have all the bolts out and all the tranny mounts off. i am thinking that the flywheel is what is holding me back but there is no way that i can see to acess it. can anyone help me with this?

If it wont come loose then you DONT have all the bolts out! Flywheel is only bolted to the crankshaft.

Crazy question at this point but you did remove/disconnect the axles correct? Also does starter bolt to tranny or block?

make sure you didnt miss one bellhousing bolt


need to have 6 out yes.

one is probsably in the back down low where you cant see, above the cv shaft output area of the transaxle diff unit output.

and on most vehicles the bolt is threaded in from pass side

unlike the other bolts

at least GM and ford ones are..

could be corrosion around a dowel pin keeping it from separating. spray penetrating oil and smack where they join with a heavy dead blow hammer.

loctite on the dowel pins

Starter has one bolt coming in from passenger side and one from the driver side for whatever reason

Yeah, make sure the starter is out, and the bolts are all removed, then you can tap the bell housing in the area by the exhaust manifold to get it loose (on older 4af's the starter was on that side), also can pry from the bottom in the gap between the bellhousing and the stiffener brace.
