I noticed over the past few month that my 95 Corolla runs alot colder than usual. If i give the car 20min to warm up in the morning, then the needle on the temp gauge will go to 1/2 which is normal and what im use to. But if the car seems to be moving, whether it be 15kms or 400km then the needle will sit around 1/4 (seems almost like it varys slightly speed, not sure tho). Heater always blows more than adequately hot, so im wondering if its maybe a faulty sensor, no engine lights on tho. I did bleed a bit of air out of the system when the issue first occured, but that had no effect and there hasn't been anymore air entering the system. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, no major issue, i'm curious more than anything.

Hmm, could be a sensor. Try checking the thermostat, had a similar problem on a car I used to own and it turned out to be the cause. 20-minutes seems like a long time to warm up, takes under 5-minutes for my 5A-FE to be at normal running temp.

It's the thermostat. I used to have the same situation as yours. I replaced my thermostat, and my car temp gauge needle sits horizontally at the middle. It stays in that position after warm-up and after driving at various speed.
i agree also, if it gets stuck wide open...this also can be bad, coolant will flow too quickly, not giving it enough time to cool down as it runs thru the radiator
You said you replaced the thermostat 2 months ago.
Are you sure the coolant mixture is correct.
Glycol does not warm up as fast as water.
If the mixture is OK I would agree, thermostat.
Make sure the rating on the thermostat is the same as the old one.
The rating will determine at what temp it opens.
You may have something stuck in the housing preventing the thermostat from closing.
Good luck.
Will it do harm to leave be? until the weather is a little bit better, like March/April ish...haha
well where you are you will need it you wont like your engine to work below the operation temperature and in cold weather with out a thermostat will only make it worst... i have mine out becuse i live in a hot climate i dont have no snow or anything like that just rain during the rainy season and a lot of sun so for me running without one is ok but in cold climate with snow i wont risk it.
Well, mine runs colder in the winter.... the air is colder so I guess the temperature gauge doesn't go as high?
And is it really normal for it to go to half way? Mine never did, even in the summer.
It took too long for my heat to warm up, and it never really did, so I installed packing tape over the upper and lower grilles to block the air from coming in. Now, the temp gauge goes to almost half way pretty quick and I am very toasty LOL. FTW.
