so i have my sony headunit, and for some reason it wont work in my car
i have a 1994 toyota corolla
i used this diagram to wire it.. http://www.**********s.com/supra/stereodiagram.gif
and it goes along with my sony wiring manual too.. its exactly the same as it says.. but the illumination wont turn on and i cant get any sound out of it.. it just doesnt work at all..
the cig/radio fuse is not blown..
the head units fuse is not blown..
i tried the sony headunit in my friends car (we just unplugged his sony and plugged mine in) and it worked fine in his car
I blew quite a few of those... I also had my radio ground wire go bad, so I had to jump it down at the cig.

I forget, if your standing alone the driver side fender, looking into the fuse box, it is the upper left orange 20 amp fuse.

Your suppose to remove the negative battery cable before doing any radio wiring or any electrical wiring for that matter...

i hooked up my amp... everything works fine on tuner.. but when i switch it to aux or ipod my amp shuts off.. whys that? im pretty confused

Turn the volume down on what ever input device your plugging in, more then likely your overloading it.

My guess is that you used the power antenna lead as the amp turn on. Many radios turn off the power antenna lead when you switch to any other input source. You will need to verify that and find a different turn on lead source.

This...
Unless your car doesn't have a power antenna.
Does it power OFF or go into power protect? Remember, you need to run the amp to the 12v hot on the aftermarket harness, most often the BLUE wire.

i used the blue wire which im pretty sure is the amp, on the aftermarket sony wiring,
and there is also a blue wire with white stripe on it which i think is antenna
Blue wire with white strip is probably it., but IDK.

I didn't mention anything of the car as it doesn't matter. You need to brush up on skills and experience. Not sure which model he has but here is a Sony http://www.docs.sony.com/release/CDX...stall_conn.pdf. You need to use the blue with white stripe which is the AMP remote lead.
The plain blue supplies power to the antenna lead ONLY when the radio is in in tuner mode as stated in the instructions. Does not matter what vehicle it's in or if it has a power antenna. Also MANY new cars including Toyota and Scion do not have a power antenna BUT they do have an antenna booster amp that needs power or your reception is garbage.
