Random extreme vibration

Ok, here's the story. After spending an hour digging my car out from the snow, I hop on the highway. The highway was pretty dry so I sped up. Once I hit 50 -65mph, the car starts vibrating like crazy. I know that normally the car does start to vibrate around 60mph but this was too much. It was so unbearable that I had to get off the highway and bring the car home. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I speculate that it could be the motor mounts. Please help guys.

Motor Mounts, a seized brake caliper, bad struts, steering components (tie rods), ball joints, it could be a number of things.

When was the last time you had an alignment?

Darn tootin I know! It is snow impacted on the rim, specially on the inside. Messes w/wheel balance.

Really CJCride. Hmmm. Well the car is in my garage now, the snow should be melted. Would balance be restored and the problem gone? I had an alignment two weeks ago when I had my new KYB struts installed.

Yeah, the snow gets in the wheels... also, there might be lots of salt chunks on the road...

I don't know about the snow messing up your wheel balance cause it doesn't snow here so I have no experience. If it only vibrates on those speed while you're stepping on the gas pedal and disappears when you let go of it, then it's your cv axles cause I had this problem before most likely the longer passenger side. I replaced both of them and now it's gone. Other than that, it might be the engine mounts like someone said before.

Does that mean I'm good now that the snow has melted or will I have to get a new balance done?

All right cool. I haven't driven it since it happened. I'll find out tomorrow if it's good or not.
