Here's a question from a friend with a 94 Corolla 1.8 Auto. Can the car be towed witout lifting the drive wheels on these cars. I have a 97 and never thought about it. It seems like it would be ok...but want some opinions first.
This answer has always been the same. Automatic transmissions cannot get towed without potential damage. Same goes for many all-wheel drive cars too. If in doubt, request a flatbed.
I've also heard this...but yet I've been seeing alot vehicles being towed on the interstate without trailers. Anyway, my friend got it runnin and moved the car so it's no big deal now. But hopefully this thread can be useful for anyone else thinking of doing the same thing. Also in case no one knew, if you remove the CV shafts and roll the vehicle at any high speeds, you can also cause damage to the wheel bearings
