amp wiring grounds

i have an 8 gauge power wire (battery to amp), it doesnt have a wire going from the fuse to the battery i was wondering if i could cut part of it off the other end and put it on there and put a circly ground thing on it to put on the battery?
also i dont have an amp to ground wire, can i again, cut another peice off the power wire and use that as a ground?
thanks guys let me know!

Yep, that's exactly how you're meant to do it. Just strip each end of the wire and you'll be good to go.

The general rule is that the ground wire should be the same size (or larger) as the power cable. So the 8 gauge power wire will work fine as a ground.

yeah you should definitely fuse no more than 12" from the battery. Most amp kits use an 80a AGU fuse. I personally would use an ANL fuse in an ANL fuse holder. The ANL fuses can take more power as the AGU tend to pop easily but since your power and ground wire is only 8ga, an AGU fuse and fuse holder should be ok.
