Welcome to the forums! Be prepared for a wide variety of replies since opinions about air filters (especially K&N) rank up there with discussions about politics and religion. Personally, I use K&N for my Highlander and Samurai and think they're fine. A lot of urban legend hype in my opinion regarding fouling up the MAF. Mileage improvements are arguable too, but I've seen 4% improvement in my HL as well.

i believe the panel....its the one that replaces the factory air filter.
Ok. In that case, it's a definite improvement over the stock filter. At the very least you should notice slightly better response from the engine. The beauty about K&N filters is that you can just buy a 'recharge kit' when it gets dirty, which basically brings it back to being brand new again. Just be careful not to over-oil it when the time comes.

I have been using their product for over 30 years. The imitations that have recently popped up in the last few years do not have the quality I've seen on the K&N.
They really do only need to be cleaned when they are totally covered in grunge. DO NOT use anything other than their cleaner and oil when you do get that far.
The complaints about them ruining MAF's are from extreme overoiling. Hmmm and suprisingly from Nissan owners!
For roughly the price of $40, it better be an improvement. I've considered getting the one that replaces the stock filter, but can't seem to justify spending the extra money. But I have been curious about how much better it really is.
