randomly just shut down

so this afternoon about 40 minutes ago i went out to my garage got in my car turned the key just so my radio was on then as iwas reaching for the key again to turn it on all the way it just shut off the whole car just shut down.. my dome light or nothing was working.. the headlights, radio.. nothing.
so i was like wtf happened.. i just went to look under the hood to see if my battery was disconnected somehow but ijust like touched a wire and it kinda just turned right back on.. i was so confused but happy it still worked..
anyone have an idea of why this happened? or even what happened?

I can't say for sure, but my guess is that the grounding point for your battery that connects to the chassis is either corroded or dirty, and by touching the wire with your hand, you gave it enough resistance to kick back in again as your body acts as a natural ground. It could be something entirely different, but that's my theory anyway.

are the wires attached the the terminals loose or corroded? start it up and wiggle the wires with a volt meter attached to the battery. when you wiggle the right ones you'll drop from alt voltage to battery voltage.

nothings really corroded its actualy pretty decent. when it warms up around here im gonna scrub my whole engine bay down though, take the battery out and clean all in ther and secure it good.
