In the front, it comes stock with 3.5" but you can go all the way up to a 6.5" when you take the stock mount out IIRC.
The Excelon 6.5"s are a nice match for this car in the rear. I have them and know at least one other person here who uses them too. It is also not impossible to run 6.5" and 6x9" speakers in the back; bitter did that.

no, i just ran the 6x9's off the head unit with no 6.5" rounds. BUT you could do both, would need a good amp like a 4 channel for the front doors and rear 6.5"s and then a two channel for the pair of 6x9's and split off the rear RCA's...or something.
to mount the 6x9's you'll need to cut custom mounts from wood and glue/attach them to the rear deck. i used some tough plywood and liquid nails. i made a trace of then opening top and bottom and transferred the trace of the top, cut the blank, added the trace of the bottom, and worked the wood on a sander to get the shape close, checking it for fit each time, eventually i had one that fit perfect. i used it to make the second one even quicker, glued them in, let the glue set, and screwed the speakers down. voila! done.
