I'm about to buy some 17 inch rims for my 97 Corolla CE. I want the wheel offset's to be as close as possible to the factory wheels. By the way whats the factory offset?
Depends on which wheel you have, I'm pretty sure the steel wheels will have the offset stamped on them.
I'm guessing either 42 or 45mm... for the 7th gen sedans you shouldn't go lower than 42mm and no higher than a 7inch width, though 7.5inch might fit... however it will depend on offset.
If they are OEM steelies, then it should be +45, keep in mind that that's with a 5.5" wide wheel.
If you are getting 17x6.5" or 7" wheels for example, then you should adjust the offset to compensate for the extra 1" or 1.5".... so if you want factory fitment, that should put you at around +40 or +42.
7.5" wide wheels will fit, but depending on your suspension setup, may cause some occasional rubbing.
