Please help? Waterpump removal and install 1.8L

Long story short:

my moms 94 corolla 1.8L had a timing belt and water pump change a year ago from goodyear but the idiots made the waterpump/powersteering belt too tight and now i can hear the bearings going on the waterpump. Okay so whats the easiest way to change the water pump? I dont need to change the timing belt, just the waterpump?
Please help??????????? do it from the right wheel area? what tools do i need?

I've change the timing belt and Wp on my Lexusis300 and that was pretty hard. The corolla has more hard to reach areas.

Maybe they are just working loose.

Try tightening the alternator belt a little bit and see if that helps. It has solved numerous other belt noises here on TN.

Did you try my suggestion? It may seem tight enough, but belt tensions are finicky, so give it a few turns and see how it sounds.

Drain the coolant from the block. Or you could let it flow out once you unbolt the pump. Roughly 1.5quart. The coolant drain bolt can be a real pain to remove and it can snap. Taking that into account I would say it is by far easier to wipe off the coolant than fight the drain plug.

Take off the right wheel, then the splash guard. Remove the belts. Remove the valve cover to be able to take off the timing belt covers. You pretty much have to take off the timing belt as it gets in the way otherwise. The pulley cannot be taken off from the water pump while it is in the engine bay. You could try loosening its bolts though, but that is pretty hard too. Do it before removing the belts, otherwise there is nothing to hold the pulley stationary. If you can unbolt the pulley from the pump it is easier to remove the pump from the engine bay.
Otherwise you could unbolt the power steering pump and move it carefully out of the way. You do not want to damage its hoses or their connections.

Before you take everything apart, perhaps try to just remove the belts, and feel for play on the bearings in the water pump. I sort of doubt that the bearings would give up that quickly.
Perhaps the pulley on the water pump was not tightened properly and it has some play?

I second that.

Look carefully for other careless mistakes on the installation.

had the wp been replaced before? chances are it had to be replaced when the timing belt was done and since it didn't get done it just finally went on its own.

That humming.. is more then likely your PS pump.

well, The water pump is basically the central pulley between the alternator pulley and the power steering pump pulley. Joined by two different belts which is why E brake recommended you tighten the alt. belt.

Again, I disagree with him on that, but whatever. Get a hose and isolate the sound. One end by your ear and the other near where the sound is. Hopefully it's loud enough for you to determine the sound. Makes me wonder if Goodyear tightened the belts wrong....hmmm
