rear bearings...

car in question 96 corolla.

needs rear bearing done. Tried to find a diy no luck. Does the bearing have to pressed out from the hub? i know you have to take out the 4 bolts behind the hub. Im assuming the hub and bearing then come out TOGETHER right? Is there a way to use a puller from parts source (canadian) to seperate

thanks guys

you can buy it as a whole unit ready to install, just take the brake drum off, take the 4 bolts that hold it off, take the old bearing off (may be stuck with crud, small whap with something knocks it loose), put the new one on, tighten the bolts (not sure the spec), put the drum on, and voila!

I like this. Dad says he hears a sound in the rear of my Prizm that he believes to be a wheel bearing. Easy fix.

They are pressed in, so you need to get them pressed out. Just take the parts to a shop if you don't have the tool, and they should press them out and then put them in for like $15.

mine that i took off the car were a sealed solid unit, though they do have ones that can be rebuilt. its hit or miss as to what your car will have on it, but most i've seen have been the non-rebuildable ones.

i think you're thinking of front bearings.
