I wanna know, engine wise, where is a good start point? intake? headers? any suggestion? i don't want to put alot of money into it but i want to make it go faster than stock...
Get an Intake. Headers and Catback, get some decent plugs and wires. I suggest NGK's.
With that, you'll notice a decent jump in performance.

On mine, a simple $20 short-ram intake was the only thing that made any difference.... especially in the winter. In the summer, I use a custom cold-air intake.
To be honest, you won't get much faster than stock with this engine unless you spend thousands of dollars. I would just get a 4age swap. You can find just the engine for under a grand if you look at the right places and around 1500 with the transmission, ecu, etc and it bolts right in. I pretty much left my engine stock and concentrated on the suspension and exterior cause I know it's worth saving for a faster engine.

I have to agree with this post.
The stock xA-FE series engines don't really respond well to mods.
Just leave the stock engine stock and save up whatever money for a swap.

I'm thinking Beams 3SGE redtop on mine!...when I actually have the money and someone to help me make the engine mounts and do the wiring. I'll have no space for A/C though so this won't be a daily.
Pretty awesome engine, that's pretty much the best choice for an NA swap.
AFAIK it's been done before, there were videos on youtube of a BEAMS powered 7th gen and the thing was insanely fast running up a mountain pass. Can't find the video anymore, but I'm pretty sure the car was white.

You CAN run boost on these 4AFE's, but the problem is you will have to Fab all of the turbo, and cooling parts. I think there is someone on here that ran 13psi for a long time, before having to swap to a smaller turbo.

Pedro has a boosted 4afe making 300+HP. There's someone from Philippines with a white 7th gen with 3sge and also another guy from Canada with a gold wagon. There's a few videos on youtube it just takes a while to find them. I've talked to both of them and that's how I found out that you gotta take the a/c out cause there's not enough space or something. You also gotta relocate some stuff. I remember finding a complete swap on eBay for a little over 2K
alright... now to sum all this up. No - on th engine mods, Yes - on a swap... lol. i'm not looking into spending that much money right now, but in the future its a strong possibility. I just wanna concentrate right now on th exterior of the car. Oh, do you guys know where i can find engine mounts for my stock 96' rolla for a good price?
