i finally decided to rip down my headliner, sick of it sagging and looking like crap lol, (all smoky from the previous owner so it was yellow) so i took it out today & took all the material off. do i keep the stuff on thats under the cloth or do i have to scrape all that off?
i was wondering what should i use to make my new fabric stick onto the headliner, where could i buy it?
im guessing its some type of spray adhesive glue, would walmart have something like that? what would it be called
Hmm, it typically comes off in one piece leaving bare metal, I'm guessing that you removed the fabric from that. There is a product that comes in a spray can designed for headliner fabric adhesion, I found it in Autozone... I don't know about Walmart, but I'd assume they would have it in the automotive section somewhere. Just look for something like "headliner spray adhesive." It's usually pretty powerful stuff, so use it sparingly and be careful not to get it on yourself.

thanks! will post pics when its all done.
Definitely scrape the remnants of the old gunk off, sandpaper should get most of it off, or use a stiff brush (just be careful not to push too hard). As for reattaching the head-liner, make sure you're in a very warm place when you do it, this will allow the glue/adhesive to set properly, without the risk of sagging. Might pay to wait for a warm sunny day, preferably when the interior is hot from sitting in the sun.
You can use a foam type adhesive to secure the head-liner or use 3M spray-on adhesive (like iToaster mentioned). I think it's called 'Super Trim Adhesive', that stuff works wonders. Be sure to use something flat to stick the head-liner down with (sort of like applying a sticker to a windscreen). Alternatively just use your hand, with your fingers tightly closed together.
Just remember to take your time as there's a good chance it will turn out full of bubbles and look like crap if you rush the job. I'll keep an eye out for the pictures when it's all done. Good luck! .

If you're going to all the trouble of taking the head-liner off then you may as well just replace the foam with new stuff . It's fairly cheap to buy and will leave it looking/feeling just like new. You could try and salvage your old foam, but it may rip and/or come apart when you try to separate it from the fabric.
I've never used the Loctite adhesive that you linked to, but it should do a good enough job. If you can spear a few more dollars then definitely invest in the 3M branded adhesive.

If you fail to find the can marked trim adhesive I'll recommend 3-M SUper 77 spray adhesive. A bit expensive but one of the best spray adhesives out there.
I would like to see some photos of the side trims and what's keeping them stuck to the a pillar and roof edges.
Cheers.
Are you talking about the plastic things on the interior? They just pop out. The ones on the roof are held in by metal clips they slide into, and the plastic on the pillars are just held on by plastic fasteners that pop out. Just be careful not to break them.
I second that! They are metal clips on plastic nubs. The nubs break off a little too easily. Unfortunately you dont know where they are until you get it loose or break one off. Just work the pieces off carefully.
yea i broke one clip off on each of the front pillars,
also i snapped the thing where the seatbelt is,
does anyone know how to get that peice off carefully? how do i take the seat belt off that top area to remove that panel?
(its fine that i broke it i just gotta run to the junk yard but i wanna know for the future lol
Well, I removed mine to paint it blue, and it was really easy. The rear view mirror has some bolts after you pop off the cover. The roof handles unbolt after you pop some covers off. The visors unscrew. The plastic pieces all pop off easily. The ceiling lights unbolt after you remove the lens.

Easy............uh huh, I'll be thinking of this when I get into mine!!!!! Mine is sagging as well, and will be getting into it when the weather warms up a bit.
