Thumbs up DIY - How to forged and build a turbo 4a/7a motor

Ok guys for those that want to build there motor to handle boost , i will post everything that needs to be done to have a good built forged motor. this is my build.

1. things you need .
arp rod , main and head bolts - 4agze motor

Cp pistons 4agze rods and ze crank
note: you can not use the crank or rods off the 4ag. on the 7afe only the pistons can be used.
go to Belfab Racing.com they have 7afe forged rods. you will have to use the stock crank.

you can see the two 4afe next to 4agze rod.

time to put the pistons and rods togeather.

Now dropping in the crank and bolt down the main bolts , arp 60 foot lbs

Time for the Head
Note : you can use 4age valves the intake are the same size round but the exhaust are a little bigger , take it to the machine shop to have it worked out.

i am using 4agze exhaust valves , because they are bibber fastair coming in and fast coming out.

Time to drop the pistons in.
Note : Make shore the rings are gapped right for your style

Torque down the rod bults to 40 foot lbs.
turn the crank to do the next set.

Now time for toga oil pump water pump and pulleys

Arp head studs and HKS head gasket.

Note: arp head studs torque down to 60 foot lbs and you will need to grind the first two arp studs so that the camshafts can turn free`ly or you can just put oem head bolts.

Time to slap on the head , camshaft , cam and timing componets.

piggyback

Ok guys if anyone ever desides to use the Apexi SAFC 2 on there 7th Gen, corolla 4a or 7a there are 2 ways to do it. First is if your Rolla is Auto you use diagram 1 and the ECU code diagram is T5-C . Now if your corolla is Manuel you use Diagram 2 and the code is T4-b.

1. Auto Tranny , T5-C

2. Manuel Tranny , T4-b

Note :

When doing this Always SODER your Wires on the EMU wires. Do not SPLICE.

what you might need to do.

3sgte map

Standalone:
Microtec LT-10

Head gasket

HKS metel any size.

Fuel.

pump , mr2, ae86, supra and celica

walbro 255

Injectors. your stock clips

440cc 7mgte supra

3rd gen 460cc RX7

Note: 93-97 corolla are saturated injectors not peak and hold. to tell the difference you would need a ohms meter and if they read under 10 ohms`s they are Peak and hold or if they are over 10 ohms they are saturated .

If you go aftermarket this is the best for the buck you will need the clips to.

If you use the stock fuel regulater you will need this 12.1 FMU

or if you want to get something better , you wont need the FMU

The 3 most important gauges you need to have on your car.

AEM wideband

if you dont have this on you car this is what will happen.

Oil Pressure

Boost/vacuum : Try to get the boost/vac and not just the boost gauge.
It`s just as important to read Vac as it is to read Boost.

Spark Plugs :

it would not be good to use the stock spark plugs on your corolla , in time they can and will melt the tips

this will work great on the car and will fit are motor.

if you dont want to step it down to 6 or 7 down the stock on the wrx will work great

NGK BKR7EIX iridium spark plugs for wrx/sti .
These Iridium plugs are one step colder then stock, which are less prone to detonation at higher boost levels.
Designed specifically for the performance enthusiast. Iridium IX offers extreme ignitability, improved throttle response and superior anti fouling

* Fine Iridium tip ensures high durability and a consistently stable spark
* Iridium alloy has extremely high melting point, perfect for today’s high-tech, high-performance engines
* “Trivalent Metal Plating” has superior anti-corrosion and anti-seizing properties
* Outstanding acceleration, high fuel efficiency and durability
* Ultimate design, technology and performance

------------------------------------------------------------------

Now when its all said and done all the HEATERS will say this when you blow by them.

Great write-up man. I'd love to do this one day but unfortunately I don't have a money tree in my backyard, haha. This guide looks excellent though, the pictures are helpful and basically speak for themselves. Good to know that there's a resource available like this if/when I ever go for the forced induction option. Nice work.

HELL. YES!!

Great writeup. You definitely know exactly what you are doing especially with a turbo buildup. Very impressed! Any videos? I am going to save this page in case I want to get crazy with my rolla.
