Aftermarket Stereo install 93 corolla

My fiance just got a 93 corolla, and i bought her a Dual stereo system, and we're having trouble mounting it. we got the wiring harness, so everything hooks up fine, but the mounts for the stock stereo are forward facing, and i don't have a way to actually mount the new stereo; it falls back in the dash and the faceplate is hard to get out.
Is there an easier way to mount this? i tried to use the brackets from the stock stereo; they don't have a way to screw into the new stereo or mounting sleeve.

Welcome to the forums. The mounting sleeve that the head-unit comes doesn't need to be screwed into the original brackets on the car. You'll have to grind the hole slightly bigger where the stereo goes into in order to insert the sleeve, but be sure to grind small amounts of the plastic off at a time though and constantly check to see if the sleeve will fit before grinding any more off. A Dremel with the appropriate attachment is good for this.

Once the hole is big enough, the sleeve should just slide through the hole and allow you to lock it in place. Then you can insert the head-unit into the sleeve by using the DIN tools that come supplied in the box. You'll hear a 'click' sound once it's securely in place. Unfortunately I can't take a photo of mine since everything is mounted in place, but here's a photo from the net that I found as an example:

The head-unit should be nice and secure, but if there is any rattling (up or down) then pack a piece of cardboard underneath or on top of the sleeve, although it shouldn't come to that. Good luck .

Could you post a picture, perhaps? It's a little difficult to understand exactly what's going on.

From what I can tell, though, you need to transfer the mounting brackets from the old stereo over to the new stereo... there are usually some screws on the side under the sleeve.

iirc correctly I was able to use some screw holes on the side of the radio for my Kenwood.

If you have issues with your bezel, this and this are both still available. One is modified for DIN bezel the other is still factory.

Yes a picture will help me as well. I've just changed mine on the 22nd and it's fresh. For my pinoneer deck in order for me to actually remove the faceplate and re-attach with the dash in place. I have to make the plastic opening bigger. I just used a knife to file it down. But i can't quite understand what your problem is.
