Fuel level guage

I recently picked up a '93 Corolla with 124,000 miles for $1000 from a little old lady! It had been sitting for quiete some time and had/has some issues. So far I replaced all four tires(shot from just sitting so long) Oil change. Fixed the raido(blown fuse on the back of the aftermarket radio). Got the dome light working(had to sand the contacts, probably will end up needing to replace but works again for now). Its got a new dizzy/cap/rotor/plugs/wires/fuel filter/fuel pump. The car wouldnt start and they just started replacing parts till it started, lol. My last mystery is the gas guage. It reads beyond empty always. I put a full tank in it and have been clocking my mileage to keep track. I cant find here or on google where the fuel level sending unit it is, or if its worked into the fuel pump or if they just didnt replug the thing back in when they changed the pump. I pulled the guage bezel out and checked all the connectors but I just cant find any more info. Any help would be great, thanks!

check the sender unit, it's under the back seat, behind the passenger side, check conecctions first , be shure not to be close to any open flame or sparks, that being said, welcome to this great comunity!

The only thing under the back seat is on the drivers side, and its the fuel pump. It has a black cover over it, 4 phillips head screws, then the plug to the pump.

Is the pump and sending unit all in one? Or are they seperate?

Alright, pulled it all apart. The floats attached and floating, connections are good. Anyway to check the output of the switch to see if its functioning correctly?

Yeah, you can check the output with a voltmeter. However I don't know the exact voltages/amperages you should expect. If it's sending out any positive voltage/amperage at all, that probably means it's working.

If it ends up being your fuel gauge and not the sender you will need to replace your gauge cluster or buy an aftermarket fuel gauge.

Found the problem. Took the sender off of its bracket on the pump assembly and there are contact points where the arm moves to send the varying fuel level. Well the little bracket that makes the contact is broken off. So ill need to replace the sending unit! Just somethng to check if anyone ever runs into this.
