I am new here, thought someone may have a little advise.
My daughter's car has 260k+ miles last week dies while she was driving. I checked spark, she was firing, fuel pressure appeared very low. I replaced the fuel pump, and the filter.
It starts now; but when I start driving it a little, it hesitates when I begin to accelerate, or push down on gas. It'll stall, then is a little tricky to start.
The car was purchased last year for 1 time owner, highway miles, not sure when the plugs and wires were replaced,
There's no warning or check engine light going off, does that mean I can rule out sensor issues? Is replacing the plugs and wires a good "starting" point? (pardon the pun)
What ant cap and rotor? Any ideas on what step I should take next?
Thanks!
I think I have a different issue, It'll die after about 5 minutes if I leave it idling, and if I rev it up, it runs very smooth at first, then starts stuttering badly, like there is either fuel injection misses, or air in the system??? I have recorded the noise, may post if I can.

After a long couple weeks, finally have gotten the car running smoothly,
Replaced Fuel Pump & Filter, Plugs and Wires, Timing Belt and tensioner, and repaired cracked manifold and replaced valve cover gasket. I also switched out to another "used" pressure regulator.
Some of these were probably not related, seems like the tensioner needing to be replaced probably threw the timing off, that was the biggest issue.
I still have a little hesitation when starting, and when sitting at idle and then accelerating. I am really uncertain what may be a good next step. IF the ignition module (on the distributer) was out; I believe I wouldn't be able to start the car at all. Any one have any suggestions?
Time to hook it to a shops computer and do a wiggle test... Take it to a reputable shop and ask them to do an OBD1 Wiggle test.
