my hood will not lock, it wont go all the way down, it goes to the position where u have to open it with your hand by the grille but wont close, so anyone can get under my hood!
how do i fix this!? whys it doing that
I had a similar problem ((but since your the popper is sticking out, maybe not). I don't know what they're called but the black rubber bumpers that keep the hood from slamming down into the body were raised too far to allow my hood to close. I never even knew what they were for. They're threaded, screw both of them back in a little bit and see if it helps.
guide the wire back slowly then allow it to stick out itself or stay in, if it stays in try to close the hood, if it pops out again then somethings bad -spring- on the locking mechanism, try some oil on the wire and on the lock, WD-40 will dry out and do nothing but attract dust, use high quality oil, like the one for sewing machines

The usual problem is the cam that locks and unlocks the latch is rusted to its pivot. Work some penetrant into the pivot and move it around until it gets free. Follow up with some grease to keep it lubed. When it gets freed you'll find the inside cable has been pulled back too.
