electrical issue?

I have a 97 Corolla no mods except a ebay CAI.

Recently my radio and digital clock have stopped working. They both worked fine before but went out altogether which leads me to believe it's something electrical.

Is there anything I could check? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, and I'm willing to bet your cig lighter doesn't work either. Probably the fuse. Under the dashboard on the driver's side, in the left kick-panel (the one closest to the door) there will be a little square cover with a pull-out pin. Pull the pin and the cover will pop off, revealing your interior fuse block.

Get a fuse puller (you should have one in the main fuse/relay block under the hood, if not just buy one) and pull out the fuse in the "Cig/Radio" slot. It's a yellow 20A fuse, and the fuse you're looking for is in the slot closest to the door in the middle row. If you don't understand what I mean, the fuse locations/amperages will be printed on the back of the fuse block cover that you popped out. If it's blown you should be able to tell. Replace it and everything should work again. Always turn the key off and pull it out of the ignition when you replace any interior fuses. You can buy fuses at your local auto parts store, they cost about $5 for an assorted pack.

If this doesn't fix it, or if the new fuse blows as soon as you turn the key on, that means you have a wiring problem somewhere. I won't go into that yet. See if it's just a bad fuse first.

Replacing the fuse worked! Thanks alot!

Another issue...I recently replaced my instrument cluster with a stock one that has a tachometer. Everything seems fine except my gas gauge, fully filling up displays 3/4 on the gauge and it seems to go down fairly quickly but upon filling up again I'm only putting in about 14 bucks worth of gas to fully fill it up.

What can I do here?

Thanks in advance.

If your old guage read properly and is the same as the new cluster, just install it in the new cluster!

No problem! Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Corolla instrument clusters (yet) to be of any help there...

Well the old gauge was damaged which was why I ended up replacing it with the tach one.

What about hooking up an after market gas gauge? I just need something that is accurate so I don't have to worry about running out of gas all the time.

Did some research, could it be my sending unit?

Does anyone know the procedure and have done it before?

Thanks
