I'm sure this is the newb repost question of all time, but I did some searching and didn't come up with much. I'm looking to replace my headlights and side skirts. I saw in the pics thread a bunch of nice headlights, and found them for sale on ebay.
My only question about those are if there are any model/brand in particular that you guys have gone with over others? I'm worried about the ebay lights leaking and getting moisture in them. Would I be better off looking for maybe a factory EDM or JDM head light?
I'm also searching for some aftermarket sideskirts that look as close to stock as possible. Just something straight primer black, like what would come on a base model.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. What bulbs would you recommend? Just some Sylvania Silver stars or something? I'm not trying to blind the other drivers with non-functional HIDs.
The headlight housing works great the only thing was the corner lights couldnt handle the heat of the bulb and melted the plastic. He also has HID bulbs and the headlight housing hasnt had any problems.
The other problem with that is you lose your highbeam because it is a housing for a bulb that is both low and hi
But check these lights out I think theyre pretty sick..
lol no need to thank me, just hit the thanks button
The consensus on silverstars has been that some like them, but others have noticed that they blow out quickly. They're tinted blue so the light output doesn't really look that great. They're a bit pricey for what you get.
I would recommended Sylvania Xtravisions as a basic upgrade, you can probably find them at your local auto parts stores. They don't really have a colored coating on the bulb and they're cheap to boot.

I bet those style lights aren't ment to be parking lights. There was similar issues with JDM corner lights being used as parking lights with my old Galant VR4. I just wired them as corner blinkers that way they wouldn't get too hot just blinking.

I had the silverstars before i got the HIDs and they worked well for me.. I got a nice bright white output.. it bothered a lot of drivers but my nighttime vision was excellent

Because your friend failed to properly research the power specs before swapping the headlights in.
Those ebay JDM replica lights come with parking lights that draw 25W of power, the stock wiring for the corner lights is only rated for 5W. You have to either upgrade the wiring to handle the extra draw or run a low-wattage LED bulb as a replacement.

makes sense now ill keep that in mind because i was thinking about changing my headlights
also I think im gonna take that idea about the 8th generation sideskirt its looks a lot nicer than my 7th gen side skirt
Any idea if the 8th gen parts are still available through the dealer? Or does anyone have a part number for the 98-02 8th gen Corolla S side skirts?
No idea, but a body shop may be able to hook you up if you want new ones.
I can vouch for Xtravisions. I just put a pair in our Suzuki XL7 (H4s, same bulb that would go in the JDM lights) and they are brighter than the stock ones ever were. Keep in mind if you go with JDM headlights you will need a JDM grille as well as they will not fit with the factory grille.

Good to know, I'll definitely pick up a set of those xtravisions and give them a shot. I'll probably just clean up my stock lights as well to try and save some money. I work at an Infiniti dealership and if I can get the PN for the side skirts I could probably see if the Yota dealership that we have an account with down the street could price them out.
The best non-HID upgrade for 9006 bulbs would without a doubt be a set of 9012 HIR bulbs. They put out something like 70% more light than standard 9006's while drawing the same amount of power.
