Hey everyone. I recently had my car radio stolen, so I bought a stock radio to replace it. Unfortunately, I couldn't mount the radio since the thief stole that along with my old radio and the parts dealer didn't have one. Right now it's just loose. I was wondering if anyone here has a good and cheap source to buy this part (online or in NYC area). It's kind of obscure and I keep getting sites selling things like cell phone brackets and other accessories.
The cubby hole down the bottom is the next place to put a radio.. I bought my corolla with a fubarded upper din...

I assume the TS means the brackets, which are easy to find at a junk yard. Even if the part the brackets screw into got busted off (can't even begin to imagine that happening) you could probably cut some out of a junker and find a way to screw them in somehow.

Good luck... my mounting places are FUCKED and I would have to take the dash out to get any kind of leverage in there...

Thanks for reading!
Location says Iowa, that's pretty far from the NYC area?
$10 paypal (shipped) and I'll have them out to you tomorrow.
PM received, replied, brackets in the mail! Coming from Long Island you should have it Monday according to USPS . In the pics (and still there) the screws had the tape to hold the washers on. My aftermarket radio needed to stick out a bit more after trimming the dash plate so that's all it took.
I don't mean to hijack this thread but I have a quick question.
My Corolla came with a JVC headunit in it. It fit fine with the stock brackets screwed on to the unit itself without modification. Last week I bought a Pioneer DEHP3100UB and it didn't fit when put in the same as the JVC. The back plate doesn't line up for me just make the faceplate protrude from the dash, and it's too big to make the whole unit go through it. I tried filing the holes bigger but it didn't help. I am able to fit the unit and dash panel back on without trouble but I can't screw the headunit down.
My Kenwood Din radio needed to stick out further so I could get the faceplate surround on since it has a removable face plate. I ended up trimming the dash more so it would fit through as needed. I also had to put some small spacers (washers in tape as seen in pics) on the back of the brackets to secure it out that way. This is the modified one vs. un-modified. You can probably see the size difference in rectangular opening. You might need to do the same very carefully.

Any ideas?
A simple solution is to use the metal sleeve that the head-unit came with. This is how I've got my Sony head-unit mounted and it's just as secure as using the factory brackets. I had to get mine professionally installed as part of the head-unit's warranty, but all the guy did was trim away some of the plastic to make the hole in the dash panel bigger in order to fit the head-unit through with the sleeve in place (like in the first photo 'sequoiasoon' posted above). If your head-unit has a surround (like most do) then it hides any signs of where you trimmed it.

I see what you are saying with the trimming. I thought about that but I didn't like the idea of hacking up my dash. I guess if I tape it out and be really careful I can probably manage. What did you guys use to trim it with?
Also, how did you get the HU to stay put with the sleeve on it? Does the sleeve do that on it's own?

Yep, the sleeve holds itself in by a couple of metal tabs. If you ever want to take the head-unit out then you use the DIN tools that came in the box (two little rods). They just slide down each side of the sleeve and release the tabs. If you ever lose them you can buy them from basically any audio shop as they're virtually all universal.
This isn't a Corolla, but will give you some idea of how the sleeve is held in place:

I've only ever installed 1 other radio before (Previa) so I'm new to the DIN deal. That seems easy enough and I will probably try it out.
What did you guys use to remove the plastic from the panel? Some sort of grinder or file?
