My radio recently went out. Well, I thought it went out. The cd player still lit up and looked fully functional, just wouldn't hear any audio come out of any of the speakers, so I thought it was either a dead cd player or bad wiring harness. bought new cd player and wiring harness and still running into the same problem. what could be the issue and would it be an easy fix for dummies? Fuses all look fine. I am thinking that its the wiring in the car itself but I really hope it's not because if it is, it could be any wire and the wires could be damaged anywhere in the car.

Have you tried hooking up a separate speaker to either of the HU's to see if they put out sound? I would also try connecting a 9v battery to the car speaker wires to listen if they "pop" like they should. If they don't you probably have a wiring problem somewhere, but it is odd that all the speakers would quit and once.

See, that's the weird thing, because when the cd player turns on when i start the car, all the speakers do pop once as if they're coming on, but then after that, nothing.

In the schematic for my 93 Corolla, the radio ground wire in the car side of the harness is brown in color. It is supposed to be connected to the left hand instrument panel brace.
The radio's constant 12 volts comes from the integration relay and the 20 amp dome light fuse. The radio's ignition switched 12 volts comes from the 20 amp cigarette lighter/radio fuse and the ignition switch.
take the black(ground) wire from the new harness and ground it to a bolt on the chassis or the console cage, that'll probably fix your problem. Did you also check the fuses in the engine compartment?
I checked all fuses and they all look and tested perfectly fine. I unplugged the rear speakers, since they had their own harness, to see if that would do anything(Purple and Green wires) and now my front speakers work! I plug the rear speakers back in(purple and green wires) and all audio dies. So would the issue now be grounding issues with the rear speakers? And if so, how would i go about fixing that? I hope you guys don't say "time to trace the wires."

I think you may have a short in the rear speaker wire somewhere. Like when you short a home receiver it goes into protect, the same thing may be happening.
