How to remove A/C Unit of AE101R 1999 Corolla?

Hi all,

Need some help removing the air conditioning unit of my AE101R Corolla 1999. I took out most of it and the screws, but it's manually operated so there are two blue wires on top and two more wires on the bottom + the electric wires at the back of it. I managed to take the re-circulate wire out, but am having trouble taking the other 4 wires out and don't want to break the holders. Does anyone know how to take the unit out, or is there a service manual somewhere for it?

Thanks!

Yeah, thanks..didn't help. After a lot of playing around with the unit I got it free.

Another question now - Does anyone know of the size of the bulb in the unit, or where I can find the bulb size? The only markings it has is S. 12V 2W. I wanna replace it with a brighter blue bulb..heres a pic:

^^^He posted that cause he's an illiterate E-tool and loves to start arguments.

Anyways, I don't know if this is what you need, but here's a guide of all the type of bulbs in our car. I think the one for the center console is a 158/194. If you wan't brighter, then get L.E.D bulbs. Hope this helps.

Haha

Thanks for your link, helped me alot seeing as I havn't had time to go to the local electronics store to ask. Ordered a Blue LED 194 bulb of eBay for $3 (It said LED's aren't bright as Incandescent bulbs, but hey, only $3, worth a shot )

Thanks again!

Oh man I just read you're from Australia and not the US but I'm sure part numbers are the same there. I had white ones for my license plate lights that were also 194 and they were REALLY bright, like 3x brighter than normal bulbs. I don't even need the reverse lights to back up at night haha. I eventually went back to normal bulbs though.

Oh, and thanks for posting the pics. I've been wanting to replace mine cause it's dead but haven't had time but now I know what it looks like.
