hello corolla friends!

hey guys i dont post around here much, but heres alittle background info on myself.

Im justin and my love is for my 1991 mr2 N/A

She has 86,xxx miles now i purchased her in 2007 with 69,xxx! and i have done some upgrade that i wont overbore you guys with, but some trd goodies etc

but to the point of my thread. im having a hard time restoring her while full time driving her. ( plus full insurance is KILLER here in NJ)
so my game plan is to put collector insurance on the mr2 and basically park her while i fix her up! a friend of mine is selling me his 1996 corolla 5 speed with 200+k for 200 bucks! so here are my real questions

is there anything upgrade wise that you guys recomend? nothing super crazy of course because this will be my daily beater after all

and any other questions, comments, concerns would be greatly appriciated!

As far as upgrades I'd just say a tune up if it hasn't just been done, new fluids etc..That Mr2 looks real nice,I've only seen one in my life. Was cool to find out the engine was in the middle and not under the hood.Hope your Corolla gets the job done while you fix up your baby.Check out the DIY section for some upgrade ideas and check others corollas to see what they've done in the pic gallery.Good luck to you.

There's not a whole lot you can do performance wise, without going down the forced induction route or replacing the entire engine, but a cold air induction is a good place to start. If you want to extract a bit more power, then you can also buy headers off eBay (the factory manifold is prone to cracking anyway). As for the handling, replacing the struts and whacking in a set of lowering springs will improve things and reduce a lot of the body roll.
