You need to take to a pro and have it looked at. There are many things it could be, from an o'ring leak, condenser, pressure switch, compressor.

what do you mean by not working? is it not blowing air or its just blowing warm air?? if its blowing warm air....then you need to recharge the AC system...go to autozone or your nearest parts store and buy 3-4 cans of r-34 refrigerant and go to a mechanic and tell him to recharge the AC for you. Thats it! total cost around $60-$70 including labor.

If it needs to be recharged you need to find the leak. The AC is a closed system. Here if you take it to a shop and have it recharged have dye put in it to find the leak. If one is found and you refuse to fix if by law they have to take the refrigerant out of the car before you take it.
