Working on a Sprinter!

Hi all-
I'm working on a Japan built/sold Corolla called a Sprinter Marino. It's a rt. hand drive car model # AE101-BTPEK built in '94. I have had good luck by using toyodiy.com for part numbers and then checking with Toyota to see if the part number is good in the USA. Now I have hit a dead end. I'm looking for a window regulator sub-assembly P/N 69801-12150 and it doesn't cross over. I have checked out a Corolla in the junk yard and the door is different. The Marino has no frame around the glass like the domestic Corolla. My guess is that is why the window regulator is different. So here is the question-- Where or how do you locate parts for a car that was never sold in the USA? Toyota USA customer service told me I would need to contact a dealer in Japan--Thanks, yeah right, I'll get on that...

All thoughts are appreciated!

Can't you just fix the window regulator that you have? I'm guessing that the electric motor is slow? You could always just buy some new brushes and bearings for the motor, it would be pretty cheap, then just grease the tracks.

Thanks for the replies--

I had thought about trying to repair the regulator, but wasn't sure how to do it. The motor is fine and the window slides up and down easily. The problem is that the cable has a "kink" in it and it won't track the groves in the spool. I have tried to work on the cable, but after a few runs up and down it screws up again. Everytime that happens the cable gets worse. Anybody ever tried to rebuild a regulator??

See how much it would cost for someone to fix it before it completely breaks. By the way, any pics of it?

I went to my local junkyard a couple of hours ago and there was a Sprinter Marino sitting there, but all the door-cards, regulators etc had been ripped out of it already. I can more than likely source you one over here if you find yourself really stuck.

a place that does custom modifications to vehicles such as a custom shop, can rebuild that, but expect to pay for the work...
