7afe spark plug tube seals question

Alright guys, im installing a new valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals in my 7afe and had a questions about the spark plug tube seals. Which way is the correct way for them to face? On one side of the seal there is a thin red circle around the outer trim and on the other side its all black. If i put the side with the red circle facing down towards the motor the seal stays caught on the top of the tube. If i slide the seal with the red circle facing up it just slides up and down the tube freely. Which way is the correct way? Do i want the seal to stay caught on the top of the tube, or do i want it to slide down onto the tube?

It's supposed to slide up and down over the tube freely, no catching on anything, in this case the red circle should be facing up.

yup your exactly right. After putting the seals in the valve cover with the red circle facing up, the seal slides nicely over the top of the spark plug tube. After i tightened down the valve cover the seal is nice and tight on the tube. Thanks man!

Will replacing these seals on tube tops stop oil from spewing into the engine compartment?? My sons 94 has oil all over the inside of hood and it looks like it is coming from the plug tube closest to oil cap. Tubes are new to me.... Thanks
