Need the taillight/brake wiring harness....

for my 1997 Corolla (believe they are the same from 1993 to 1997). I was going to replace a burnt out brake light bulb and when I pulled the lens assembly off, noticed there was a crack in it, which has let water into the assembly. Needless to say, all the bulbs are completely corroded into their sockets, so, I"m thinking it's time for a different harness.

Anybody have a lead on such an animal?

Thanks.

generally the seal around the rear light should keep water out though...

I'd say try a scrapyard for the relevant side harness you need?

Yeah, I should try them, but their prices are generally pretty steep. Most of their parts they think are made of gold.

I would recommend junkyards too, i have the exact same problem btw. I used some wd-40 and a round wire brush to clean out the insides and they still work.

As a temp fix because i couldnt seem to seal the crack so i drilled a hole in the bottom of the bottom of the taillight to let it drain, it's working well so far.

This happened to me a few years back, and I just went to autozone and bought a universal harness and bulb carrier that was the same sized bulb, and just spliced into the factory wiring. It was around $6 dollars per harness.

Which side do you need? I've got a '96+ driver's side taillight and the harnesses for both sides I'm willing to sell. Send me a PM if you're interested.

One would almost think I could figure out how to send a PM. :-(

Anyway, it's for my 1997 Corolla, passenger side rear, and the lens is red and white. I tried to swap the harness from my 1995 Corolla, but it wouldn't work (the lens on that car also has some orange in it). You'd think it would swap over, but it won't.

I actually did get the harness to work. Let it sit in Kroil for a couple days, and the bulb finally came out (with a little persuasion!!). It functions ok, but I'd still like to come up with a harness that wasn't corroded.

Put some pics of what you need. I've got the right side light (red and orange) and full harness that I can disconnect/cut wherever you need. It's from a '93 so don't know the difference.
