I need to replace my flex pipe on my 94 Corolla, they have a universal flex pipe, but they are asking for the size of the exhaust pipe. Does anyone know the size of the stock exhaust pipe?
I'm getting my 2.25" straight through exhaust installed on my Corolla in a couple of weeks, so I'll measure the diameter of the standard exhaust once it's off

Just out of interest, why are you going a half inch bigger? The stock size is fine for the stock motor, and the bends are all high quality as well (IE no crushed corners). The stock 1.75" is just about right for the power and displacement of the engine if you're removing the catalytic converter. You could probably go up to 2" with the cat but anything more would seem like a waste based on what I've read in regards to exhaust pipe size.

I've got aftermarket headers and a front pipe on my car which are larger in diameter than the exhaust pipe, so the exhaust is restricted straight away. The catalytic converter was removed early last year as it's not a legal requirement here. The half inch size difference will increase flow and will definitely increase performance (particularly in the higher rev range). The piping is mandrel bent, not crush bent. Plus, I managed to pick up the entire exhaust for a measly $11 so it's not costing me much . I'll be sure to let you guys know how I get on afterwards.

thats rite kiwi because i also have an aftermarket exhaust system and 2.25 piping but with a tubalar free flow resonator ( some guys use it for street racing ) and its GREAT sounds cool and mellow when driving normal and mean when the pedal is to the metal yours may vary from mine being that you have no cat nor resonator but i can tell you that you see the results.

Great to hear that you're enjoying yours bro! Can't wait to get mine done. I'll be using one resonator and a Dynomax high flow muffler (baffled like the OEM one) so it should be nice and quiet. I'll post a video once it's done

I haven't taken my exhaust off yet, but I managed to get some measurements of the stock piping size.
Turns out it's 1.6" (4cm). There is only a 4mm difference between 1.6" and 1.75" so it won't matter if you ended up buying a 1.75" flexi-pipe, but I thought it was worth mentioning for future reference.

2.25" will probably be too big for these cars, I'd say 2" max if you don't have any power mods... if you had a turbo I can justify going that big, but N/A you'd have to keep your car in high revs a lot in order to see any difference.

It's funny you said that actually, I went and re-measured my aftermarket exhaust piping earlier and the inside diameter was 2", not 2.25". I remember measuring it when I first bought it secondhand months ago, but must have accidentally measured the outside diameter instead . So it looks like it will work out well, especially considering the stock size is only 1.6".
