I'm not really professional at this, in fact, it's the first sound system that I'm installing in my car, but everything has been going great so far. I was able to replace the deck and the door speakers, add two 6.5" on my rear deck of my '95 Corolla, but when it came to install the amp, well, I just can't figure out how to get the wires through the firewall. I've googled a bit and found on this forum for a different car that it was under the glove box. After poking there for about an hour, I couldn't find anything helpful, so I ask; what is the best way to get my power wire through the firewall on my '95 Corolla?
wow! I can't believe I missed that! thanks a lot! I tried quickly to get the wire in, but it's harder than it looks. Should I run the wire next to the others, or do I need to insert it in the looming?
carefully use a knife and cut a small slit into the rubber grommet from the engine side, and keep poking there until the power wire goes through.then just feed it through

I just used a screwdriver to poke a hole in the rubber bung (although it pays to hold the bung at the same time with your other hand so it doesn't get pushed through the hole). Definitely poke it through from the engine side as it's a lot easier. As for getting the wire through, a good idea is to straighten out an old metal coat hanger and tape it to the wire. This way, the wire will come through nice and straight without getting bunched up in the firewall.

Well, I wasn't able to get the wire in the grommet, but I was able to get it through right next to it. I'm a bit concerned that it's not sealed now, my friend told me it was a bad idea, but, there is not much of a huge gap either... Should I be worried?
I was able to install/connect the amp/sub w/o any problem, and it worked straight away . I have to say, installing car audio is VERY worth doing it yourself, from my experience at least!
Now I just need to find a place to bolt the amp/sub. Is there any topics concerning security or, the most secure ways to fasten an amp to a car? It's a '95 Corolla afterall & I don't even have any alarm system.
Thank you everyone for the AWESOME support!!! I LOVE this forum!

The rubber grommet is there to stop the wires from touching the sharp edges of the hole in the firewall and also to keep any moisture, fumes, spiders etc from entering the cabin. You shouldn't experience any problems by doing it that way, but if you've got the time then I'd suggest doing it properly. Making the hole in the grommet will be simple if you use a drill piece that's the same size as the power wire. It takes about 2-seconds and because the hole is the same diameter as the power wire, it will make a perfect seal. That's how I did my one. I had photos but I can't seem to find them.
As for mounting the amp, if you've got it in the trunk, then you could always just mount it to the back of the rear seat. That way it won't move with the false floor and gives you more space to put luggage in etc. Or you could do what I did and put your amp under the passenger's seat. It breathes perfectly and can be held in place by either a piece of carpet or by using Velcro strips. I wouldn't recommend drilling holes if you mount it under the seat as you'll have holes in the floor if you ever decide to remove the amp.
I've never mounted a sub in my Corolla as I've never had the need for one, so hopefully someone else can assist you with that question.

I've always mounted my amp on my subwoofer box for convenience, but you could do it to the back of the seat (if you have 60/40 split folding) or upside down on the rear deck with a piece of wood.
